Conventional Advertising

Continuing our discussion of the various ways to build an NSP business, in this lesson we will focus on: Conventional Advertising

By conventional advertising I mean advertising in newspapers, specialty magazines, on the radio, etc. Volumes could be written on this subject. But instead I will simply pass on a few important points that I have learned over the years.

Always include a special offer in your ad - offering the new customer some kind of discount on a particular hot product (such as a popular weight loss product), or on a service that you provide(e.g., "free consultation.") Coupons work great! You will get a much better response to your ad if you include a coupon with a special offer. Also put an expiration date on your coupons.

Advertising in your local paper can be very effective and affordable. It is also good to advertise in specialty magazines - such as a magazine that deals with health or nutrition - that target your intended market. If their advertising rates are high, look into running a classified ad, which will usually be very cost effective.

The other suggestion that I will make is to always mention the Nature's Sunshine brand and include the NSP distributor logo. NSP has been a leader in the field for over 35 years and they have established a great reputation, especially among people who have been herb users for years. The "Nature's Sunshine Products" name sells so use it!

If you are interested in using conventional advertising, contact NSP and ask them to send you their FREE advertising package. It includes many ad slicks of many different sizes. (A slick is a high quality print that your newspaper or other print medium can copy directly, providing a very professional-looking ad and possibly saving you layout charges.) The NSP advertising package also includes slicks for popular products and (very important) slicks for the NSP distributor logo in various sizes. Also ask NSP if they are currently running any special offers where they may actually help you pay for your ad. In the past they have helped distributors advertise by paying part of their advertising expenses. Their only requirement is that you include the name of the company in your ad or a copy of the NSP distributor logo. As I have mentioned above, this is something that you should do anyway.

I also recommend that you put a listing in the Yellow Pages of your local phone book. A small ad, such as a three or four line box listing, is all that is needed in order to get a lot of referrals. Also mention that you are a "Distributor for Nature's Sunshine Products" in your Yellow Page ad because it sells. I have done this and have received great results.
